Getting started and common questions
Start with one thing you want to check. Save useful results, then organize your own information at your pace. Scam Case Builder helps you review warning signs; it does not certify safety or recover money.
Reviewed . Keep your original records and avoid entering passwords, security codes, wallet recovery words or secret sign-in links.
Your first five steps
Run a Check
Open Check and enter a website address, domain, email address, phone number or supported wallet. Select the wallet network if asked. Read the result and See why, including any missing-source notices.
Save the inquiry
Choose Save This Inquiry. Sign in or create an account if asked, and follow the confirmation instructions. Save before clearing browser data or starting a separate inquiry. A bookmark alone cannot recover an anonymous inquiry after its browser reference is lost.
Organize what you know
Find saved work in My Inquiries. Use groups to organize inquiries. Open Case Builder to create a case, describe what happened, add saved inquiries, and record events or transactions. These remain your statements, not verified findings.
Add supporting information if needed
Use the options available in your case. Follow the displayed file types, size and slot limits. Uploaded files wait for a manual operator check. Spreadsheet rows require your review and confirmation before they become transactions. Read the preparation guide first.
Download and review your records
Use inquiry/group PDF or CSV downloads for saved check reports. For private notes and case content, use the separate private account download in My Account. Downloads do not run new checks, and cases are not automatically submitted to a bank, police or another authority.
Common questions
Do I need an account or a payment?
You can begin on Check without signing in. An account lets you save inquiries and use available free Case Builder features. You must be at least 18 and meet the eligibility terms. A contribution does not unlock free features, change a result, or provide priority. Contributions are not open yet.
Does a result tell me whether someone is safe?
No. A concern label is not proof of a crime, and no information found is not a safety clearance. Read See why, source information, dates and coverage notices. A phone number may be spoofed or reassigned; a wallet address does not establish its owner. The service limits explain these boundaries.
Why does a saved result still show an earlier date?
A saved check records information from that check. Viewing or downloading it does not run a new lookup. If you need current information, run a new Check and compare the dates and available sources. Current community activity, where shown, is separate from the saved assessment.
What is the difference between an inquiry, a group and a case?
An inquiry holds recorded checks. A group organizes saved inquiries and can have private group notes. A case brings selected saved inquiries together with your account of events, timeline entries, transaction records and available files. Linking an inquiry to a case does not make it public. Removing its case link does not delete the inquiry.
Why is my uploaded file waiting?
Files wait for an operator to run a manual file check. This MVP does not provide instant or continuously running scans. Refresh file status later; if it remains unresolved, contact support. Do not assume a waiting, refused or unavailable file is safe. Passing checks does not verify the truth of its contents.
How do I add transaction information?
In your case, use Add an event or transaction, or Enter several transactions for a small set. You can also prepare a supported CSV or XLSX template and review its rows after the uploaded file passes checks. Confirm the rows you want to add; nothing is imported just because you uploaded a file. Keep originals and read the spreadsheet instructions.
Does removing a file also remove imported transactions?
No. File removal stops downloads and new import previews. Previously imported transactions, saved source snapshots and copies already downloaded remain. A file slot is freed only after operator cleanup is confirmed. Review case entries separately if you need to change or remove them; account-data requests are a separate process.
Why do some accounts show different tools?
Ordinary members and authorized operators or reviewers have different tools. Case-package PDF/CSV export remains an operator testing feature; this does not prevent ordinary inquiry/group downloads or the separate private account download. Restricted review, diagnostic and payment-testing screens are not promised member features. A contribution does not grant those permissions.
Are my records private and encrypted?
Saved cases and private notes are not public posts. Connections use HTTPS, and our storage provider documents encryption while information is stored. This is not end-to-end encryption: authorized service operations can process information and files. Generated PDF, CSV and private ZIP downloads are not password-encrypted. Read the encryption explanation before entering sensitive information.
Which download includes my private notes?
Ordinary inquiry and group PDF/CSV reports exclude private group notes. My Account has a separate private account download that includes private saved content such as group notes and case information. It does not include original attachment bytes or every record held by the service and its providers. Protect the downloaded copy and review it before sharing.
What if I cannot sign in?
Use Forgot password to request a recovery email. Check spam and open the newest link in the same browser where you requested it. If optional email security is enabled, follow its email-code step. Never send support your password, security code or wallet recovery words.
How do I request account deletion or a correction?
Open My Account and use Account and Data Requests, or contact support for help. Submitting the form records a request for manual review; it does not immediately delete anything or automatically send a follow-up email. Follow the identity-confirmation instructions when support asks. The Privacy notice explains remaining records and backup boundaries.
